Brand Spotlight: Omi Woods

Nothing represents the rich culture and opulence of the African continent like the pieces crafted by Toronto-based designer, Omi Woods. As a jewelry enthusiast, (this is what I’m calling my borderline unhealthy obsession with jewelry), I am always on the hunt for fresh, unique, statement, high quality pieces and the Omi Woods brand ticks all my boxes, and so effortlessly too. I absolutely love how universal the pieces are, but also how rich the gold tone is and how it glistens on chocolate skin.

According to the official website, Omi Woods jewelry are contemporary heirlooms that celebrate connections to Africa and her diaspora. The pieces are individually and ethically handmade in Canada with precious metals, gemstones, conflict-free diamonds and gold. They are intended to be worn everyday, gifted for special occasions and passed down to future generations so their stories and meaning can live on for generations to come.

One of the most attractive qualities of the Omi Woods brand is how committed founder, Ashley Alexis McFarlane is, to giving back. Omi Woods began working with AllOneBlood to raise funds and awareness for Sickle Cell Disease in 2017, when Ashley’s grandmother passed away from the disease. Her grandmother, Doreen Solomon was the oldest Canadian with Sickle Cell when she passed away, and she left Ashley, her mother and her aunties her entire jewelry collection. Some of which are evident in the pieces that are available in the collections released since.

Without further ado, here’s a look at a few of my favourite pieces;
